2002 International Conference on Air Cushion Technology

For thirty years The Canadian Air Cushion Technology Society (CACTS) has held periodic conferences on air cushion technology, in collaboration with other societies devoted to air cushion vehicles/hovercraft. CACTS is a constituent society of the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Institute (CASI) / Institut Aéronautique et Spatial du Canada.

For the first time, the 2002 Conference will occur in conjunction with the World Hovercraft Championship, September 15-22 in Terre Haute, Indiana, USA, which will allow even greater participation in both events.

The Conference will take place at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, September 17-18, 2002. For the past three years, Rose-Hulman has been ranked by U.S. News and World Report as"the nation's best master's degree college in engineering." With a student body of 1,700 students, Rose-Hulman offers degrees in more than twelve major fields of engineering.

TOPICS

You are cordially invited to submit a paper for presentation at the Conference. Selected papers will be reviewed for publication in the Canadian Aeronautics and Space Journal. The Conference registration fee will be reduced by half for one author per accepted paper.

Papers on all aspects of air cushion technology may be submitted. Since the Conference will occur concurrently with the 2002 World Hovercraft Championship and a World Speed Record Attempt, papers addressing sport and racing hovercraft designs are particularly encouraged.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

Research                                  Economics                    Wing-in-ground effect

New Design                              Noise                            Recreational Craft

Skirt Design                              Components                  Commercial Applications

Safety                                       Systems                        Military Applications

Propulsion                                 Instrumentation             Novel Applications

Both full-length and short papers are welcome. If you have unpublished information to share, this is your forum. Here, the opportunity is yours to discuss air cushion technology with your fellow authorities from around the world during coffee breaks and receptions. The Keynote Address will comment on the state of the air cushion vehicle (ACV) world as seen by a distinguished guest.
