![]() Cecil Scalf Cecil Scalf, President of Hoverclub of America, Inc. for the past five years, is Adjunct Professor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and at St. Louis Community College. Scalf is a retired U.S. Army Officer and helicoptor pilot. He holds commercial airplane and helicoptor licenses, flew Hueys and Cobra Gunships in Vietnam, and was a helicoptor maintenance test pilot. Scalf's interest in hovercraft dates from the 1960's. In 1990 he retired from the Army, joined the Hoverclub and purchased a hovercraft from Terre Haute- based Neoteric Hovercraft, Inc. Scalf says the hovercraft is a "logical extension of the helicoptor, just lower and slower."
