![]() Kent Gano Kent Gano, an Industrial Engineer, is Vice President, Americas, of the World Hovercraft Federation and Vice President of Hoverclub of America, Inc. An avid supporter of racing since his first win in 1989, he serves as the Hoverclub's Safety Officer and organized the Can-Am Hovercraft Racing Team for the 2000 World Hovercraft Championships in England. Now one of the top hovercraft racers in America, Gano's interest in hovercraft started after his departure from the United States Navy as an Ocean Technician (submarine tracker). He began as a Scat rescue hovercraft representative, then participated in nearly every U.S. race, as well as races in England in 1991 and 2000, Portugal in 1995, and France in 1997. He holds numerous trophies, and races three different craft both nationally and internationally: a Scat Hovercraft, an Aerocruiser FS from Hovercraft Concepts, and his latest acquisition, a Revtech Rocket, made in Australia. Gano believes that racing is the ultimate test for safety, engineering and reliability - that if a hovercraft is built to withstand the extreme requirements of the racing track, it can withstand almost anything.
