Donald E. Smith
Honorary Chief Marshal, 2002 World Hovercraft Championship

Don Smith, a lifelong resident of Terre Haute, Indiana, is listed in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the Midwest, and Who's Who in Finance and Industry. He is Chairman of the Board of Terre Haute First National Bank and CEO of First Financial Corporation. With his mentor and colleague, Tony Hulman, Smith shares a legendary history in racing. He has sponsored numerous racing endeavors, including Indy cars, and serves on the board of the Indy Racing League and The National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. His decades-long tenure as Director of Competition at the Terre Haute Action Track produced both the prestigious Hut 100 and the Hulman Classic, featured on ABC Wide World of Sports.

Smith is well known for his civic leadership and philanthropy. In the company of astronauts, presidents, and ambassadors, he is a recipient of Indiana's highest service citation, Sagamore of the Wabash. His multitude of distinctions includes Board of Managers, Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, Honorary Life Director, Indiana State University Foundation Board and Indiana State University Board of Trustees.
